Covered Up 10

It's been a while since I posted up some covers, so here's a general round-up. First up is a pretty faithful acoustic reading of Oasis' "Don't Look Back In Anger" by Maroon 5, recorded on Jo Whiley's Live Lounge on BBC Radio 1. Also from the excellent Live Lounge series, here's a funky cover of Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" by none other than British pop's premier girl group Girls Aloud. Manic Street Preachers successfully transform Rihanna's classic "Umbrella" into a rocking anthem, worthy of its recent random appearance in the UK Top 40. Also included is Mandy Moore's stripped-back acoustic rendition of the same track. I prefer the Manics version, but both are worth checking out. Tori Amos brings her magic touch to an instrumental piano cover of Britney Spears' debut hit "...Baby One More Time." Released a few years ago, Sexton Blake's cover of "Bette Davis Eyes" is a chilled reinterpretation perfect for lazy day listening. Compare its reading to Mylo's, who grabs a sample from the same track for his sublime "In My Arms." Cheers!

Edit: According to some readers, the Tori Amos cover isn't genuine. Just FYI, I got it from another blog and took their word for it that it was actually her. Regardless, it's a pretty sweet alternative piano take worthy of posting. If anyone knows the real performer, let me know so they can get their due credit!
