Ridin' Dirty 11: Sexy Beats

As a complement to the recent rave themed post (the one that strangely vanished earlier), here are five more heavy dance tracks, this time with a distinctly sexual bent to them. First up is a fresh bootleg remix I recently found via Hype Machine of Khia's "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)," one of the finest filthy tracks and the theme song of all Ridin' Dirty posts. It's a smooth, laid-back take with a seductive basssline that completely transforms the nature of the vulgar tune. Next up is the definitive sexy Kylie Minogue song, the stunning Fischerspooner remix of "Come Into My World." With their trademark electroclash melodies and sharp bass, they deconstruct the song's otherwise subdued vocals into its component parts, bringing up the sultry backing vocals while layering and processing her moans and coos for an overwhelming build and climax. If you only listen to one song on this blog for the next month, make it this one! Its video was featured ages ago in a much earlier post, but Benny Benassi's ridiculously sexual "Who's Your Daddy" must be included in any dance-heavy filthy playlist. Moby's "I Love To Move In Here" has had some amazing remixes, especially those by Crookers (an earlier post featured a different Crookers mix). This one is a bit more repetitive, but it is undeniably perfect for ridin' dirty. Fifth on the list is a stilted electro cover of Nelly's "Hot In Herre" by Tiga, retaining the original's heat but remaking it for all the hippest dancefloors.

Ridin' Dirty 10/Dear Ibiza 21: Dirty Grooves

Over the past few weeks, I've accumulated new music much faster than I've been able to listen to it (especially with my recent move). So, at the moment, I'm a bit low on new post ideas. Fortunately, I've got a large enough library to back me up in these brief times of stagnation. Today's post rounds up a few dirty grooves that aren't really all too related except for their fat bass and appropriateness for filthy dancing. Mason's "Exceeder" was mashed with Princess Superstar's "Perfect" to make the best thing she's ever done, becoming a huge, floor-filling hit in the process. Khia's absolute classic of song, "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)" gets a delicious electro makeover from Tom Neville worth revisiting the song for. Crookers bring their traditionally enormous bass lines to The Chemical Brothers, lifting their otherwise limp "The Salmon Dance" to a new plane of greatness. Full Intention have made some outstanding club remixes, and though their mix of "Dip It Low" isn't their best, it does turn the original into a more Euro-based party track. OutKast wrap things up with one of their stranger and more controversial moments, the bumping "B.O.B" (Bombs Over Baghdad). Enjoy these while pre-partying this weekend (or this morning if you're catching this early enough)!

Ridin' Dirty 09: Sexual Eruptions

Since I first posted it months ago, the Robyn remix of Snoop Dogg's "Sexual Eruption" (see here) has just not left my head. Every time the right opportunity for innuendo comes up, I think (and sometimes quietly sing) the song's catchphrase to myself. In its continued memory (and for those who have only recently picked up on its amazing-ness), I've reposted the track and complemented it with five more songs about "ridin' dirty." There's the classic "Smack My Bitch Up" by The Prodigy, with its controversial video included for necessary viewing. There are fun, catchy pop songs like No Doubt's "Making Out" and Destiny's Child's "Sexy Daddy," and also some R&B from George Michael and Janet Jackson.

Ridin' Dirty 08: Lick It

Ridin' dirty, gettin' low, etc. It's all good fun with the right soundtrack, of course. Here are three tracks with filthy grooves to get into the spirit. First up, Larry Tee gets low with Princess Superstar on "Licky," featured in a juicy remix by Hervé from a while back. Missy Elliott, queen of innovative rap, sings an ode to her lady parts on the vulgar, yet hypnotic "Pussycat." Last up, a recent mash-up of Khia's high-class lyrical masterpiece "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)" with Sebastian Leger's deep electro grooves. Oh yeah!

Covered Up 11/Ridin' Dirty 07: Let's Get Physical

Whether or not you regularly listen to it, everyone has at some point heard Olivia Newton-John's "Physical," or at least a cover version of it. Ever since it became a monster number one hit in the early '80s, it's become a classic trashy pop song. The base lyrics are catchy and simple, inspiring countless revisits over the years. Here are all the ones I could round up, starting with one that surpasses the now-dated original in my book. Goldfrapp did a sultry downbeat rework back in 2001 called "U.K. Girls (Physical)" that is definitely worth a listen. Kylie Minogue included a far less essential version of the track on an out-of-print tour edition of Light Years. The Black Ghosts do a fun, punky version that is a nice contrast to the pop takes. The Glimmers do it to the extreme with a sleazy electro version, while Sophie Ellis-Bextor does a nice, if unremarkable, cover that is true to her slick pop sound.

Ridin' Dirty 06

As much as I love "dirty ridin'" anthems, I just don't have enough of them, hence the infrequent posts in this series (feel free to send over more dirty jams!). This batch is notable for its all-around hilarity. Whether intentional or not, these songs manage to up the filth factor while cracking me up. Dr. Dre's "Fuck You" has possibly the most priceless beginning to any rap song, with a heartfelt phone message from a pining girlfriend giving way to instant vulgarity over a phat beat. The Pharcyde's "Ya Mama" fills out the "your mama's so fat" joke with countless ridiculous punchlines, taking it too far on numerous occasions ("an afro with a g-strap" gives you an idea of the proportions). Princess Superstar's "Bad Babysitter" is wrong on so many levels, making it onto all of my filthy playlists for its comically unique brand of raunch (apologies to longtime readers, as this was featured ages ago in this series' second post). Of course, toilet humor and Peaches go hand-in-hand, so her timeless "Fuck The Pain Away" is included to round out the post.

Ridin' Dirty 05: Dirty Dancing

Filthy dance tracks are the order of the day for the latest "Ridin' Dirty" installment. Starting off is the essential dirty dance anthem, Benny Benassi's "Satisfaction." Aphex Twin's "Windowlicker," while not all that obviously filthy in content (except the muted French whispering of "I like to have sex with dogs"), has one of the dirrtiest electronic grooves I've ever heard, and requires nothing short of shamelessly erotic slow dancing as accompaniment. If those weren't raunchy enough, prepare yourself for the shocking "Orgasm" by Thick Dick. If the artist's name didn't warn you of the song's vulgarity already, a few seconds of listening will have you convinced. Set over a deep house beat, the entire song consists of its female vocalist acting out the title. Some of my best early driving experiences included cruising around town blasting this for innocent passersby. Definitely not one to play with kids around!

Ridin' Dirty 04: Phat Beats

It's been far too long since I posted any filthy jams (or too long since I rode dirty, for that matter). To remedy that, here are three of my favorite phat basslines. Though the subject matter may not always be as raunchy as this category requires, the beats require nothing short of shameless dirrty dancing. Nobody but a total square could resist the bass of "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" or any Missy Elliot track. It will take a bit more to keep pace with Outkast's frenetic "Ghetto Musick," as it proves yet again why the duo will always defy genres.

Ridin' Dirty 03: Sexy Sunday

Sundays have a bad reputation as being the most uneventful day of the week. For college students (like myself), it's the sad end to an otherwise fun weekend, filled with studying and, unfortunately, not socializing. In an attempt to change that up a bit, I'm now calling them "Sexy Sundays" and hoping that by playing frivolously sexual music, they may end up being less of a drag. To kick things off, here is the explicit, voyeuristic video for Madonna's "Justify My Love." It was banned from MTV immediately upon release back in 1990, and went on to become a best-selling video single because of its widespread notoriety. This will be sure to get you going at the start of the week!

Ridin' Dirty 02

Today's focus within the realm of filthy jams is the female rapper. It takes a special talent to live up to the pure filthiness of some of these MCs, who just can't resist the temptation to spout out nothing but nastiness as soon as a dirrty groove starts playing.

1. Princess Superstar feat. The High & Mighty, "Bad Babysitter" (from the album Princess Superstar Is)
This woman's way with (dirty) words is incredible. Watch and see how many slurs she can string together in one simple rhyme, and prepare to be amazed by the agility of her sexual innuendos. You'll be humming this one for a while (and might want to start babysitting again).
2. Khia, "My Neck, My Back" (from the album Thug Misses)
Absolutely the filthiest thing you will ever hear. Khia redefines the phrase "too much information" by asking way, way, way too much of her male suitors.

Ridin' Dirty 01: Visibly Filthy

Now and then, everybody loves a good dirrty groove. The greatest ones inspire even the best of us to put aside all sense of decency and just get down (or "ride dirty" as some might call a particularly filthy brand of dancing). Here are some assorted videos that really up the filth factor. Warning: do not watch these in a public place!

Aphex Twin, "Windowlicker" (from the EP Windowlicker)

Watch as visionary director Chris Cunningham reinvents the concept of "but-her-face" with an extended parody of explicit rap videos. If you thought the "Thong Song" video was raunchy, then have someone hold your hand for this one. Beware: this video was banned everywhere for a reason! Skip the first 3 and 1/2 minutes if you can't take excessive swearing.

Simian Mobile Disco, "Hustler" (from the album Attack Decay Sustain Release)

A brand new video, it starts out like most dance videos do--bikini-clad women writhing around lip-syncing poorly to a catchy groove. But then they whip out the junk food, and things literally get filthy.
