Today I was randomly in the mood for some good old-fashioned Britpop. About ten years ago, it seemed like everything coming out of Britain was miles ahead of anything the Americans were putting out. A wave of new bands collectively formed the "Britpop" movement in rock music, taking the public by storm on both sides of the Atlantic. Many of these bands became household names and are some are still around today (while some of the best sadly have disbanded since). Here are some key Britpop-era releases (circa 1994-1997) by the undisputed leaders of the pack. If you're interested in checking out the bands further, the albums they're from were also major Britpop records, and the best-of compilations by each group are excellent introductions to the era.
